Can there be beauty in Sodom? Believe me, for the vast majority of people, that's just where beauty lies - did you know that secret? The terrible thing is that beauty is not only fearful but also mysterious. Here the devil is struggling with God, and the battlefield is the human heart."
-Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
I have nothing relevant to add to this blog, but its walls had been stagnant for too long. I hope you guys are doing well. Summer's almost 1/3 complete...
Also, how far are you both in the Hemingway? I'm just curious... I've barely made a dent.

Hemingway! About halfway. I fully intend to power through and finish the next one (Nietzsche?) by this weekend as well. Must stay on course. Time is flitting away. FLITTING.
The sentences are longer in The Sun Also Rises than I remember in Hemingway. Maybe my childish high school mind exaggerated because I couldn't handle his radical departure from the ornate Victorian stylings.
Hmm, maybe I'll put the Brothers Karamazov down for a few days and read the Hemingway till I'm done. I'm going to Princeton this weekend (!) for a short break from the monotony of home, so I probably won't get much reading done then.
